Slobovia is in a weak situation due to both internal and external causes.

The foremost of the internal causes of Slobovia’s weakness is the fact that it is transitioning from one form of government to another. This situation can bring either rebirth, following the tradition of the Slobovish Phoenix, or a painful death. The Post believes that General Dannel Jacksohnd, if elected, will bring that death.

General Jacksohnd’s statements upon registering himself for State President might seem to be happy thoughts to the untrained eye. However, if one considers what they mean, one essentially sees a campaign built upon nothing more than empty rhetoric.

Slobovia is essentially in a state where it has no government, and therefore government interference is pretty much nil. Yet Jacksohnd has the absurd gall to campaign upon reducing the interference. One has to think about this - what possible reduction is there from zero? Negative interference is simply impossible, one does not get less than zero.

General Jacksohnd further stated an intention to pursue “checks and balances on the power vested in the executive branch of the Slobovish Republic.” One must ask themselves what powers the presidency really has. The Constitution creates a presidential republic - in a presidential republic, half of the existence of the executive is essentially a check on the legislature and judicature. Constitutionally, the State President is given only enough power to provide checks against the People’s Council, preventing the tyranny of the majority that even men like the great genius Thomas Jefferson were entirely afraid of, and providing an office that can take charge in an emergency, such as when the People’s Council is inoperable. To weaken the presidency, essentially, shows a will to create an unbalanced dictatorship of the majority wherein the minority has no effective rights and no provisions for the event of the People’s Council’s inability to act are provided.

General Jacksohnd also mentioned his intention to pursue “the continuation of the Slobovish Republic.” He mentions nothing of the continuation of Slobovia as an existent micronation, however, and that may be cause for concern. Jacksohnd, under various pseudonyms, has attempted his own ventures in micronational leadership. Every time it ended the same way - the death of the nation. His most recent attempt was the Citizens’ Republic of Carralia. An examination of Carralia more or less shows a example of impotent leadership - Jacksohnd (under the pseudonym Daniel Callahan) made only one post, and he was the founder. Activity is difficult to obtain when the leader of a micronation is not willing to lead by example and spur activity on his own. Among the many things which the Slobovish Democrats whine about is that Slobovia is not active enough - so they field a candidate who has shown himself to be completely useless at inspiring activity.

Do we want Slobovia to be another Carralia? General Tomsohnd has been proven in his leadership skills. He has kept Slobovia alive for more than eight years, a feat that General Jacksohnd has never come within seven years of approaching. General Tomsohnd understands the grave seriousness of Slobovia’s real situation and is ready to confront the problems from day one, not just make empty rhetoric and then do absolutely nothing after the election.

Dannel Jacksohnd uses the military in his rhetoric, but General Tomsohnd is in the field in Cranda, leading the forces in the reconstruction of Arminy. Jacksohnd seems completely ignorant of the fact that members of the Werungmaght compose 100% of the Arwakung Party’s membership, and the Arwakung Party’s membership composes 66% of the Werungmaght’s membership. Why have we not heard General Tomsohnd saying that the Arwakung Party is the party of the Werungmaght? Because General Tomsohnd has enough respect for the brave individuals who would serve to defend this nation to not use them as a propaganda tool.

The Beireln Post strong endorses General Treu Tomsohnd, because he is a vetted and experienced leader whose stubborn adherence to the policy of keeping Slobovia alive at all personal costs is among the reasons why Slobovia still exists today, he doesn't trivialize an important election by using empty and meaningless rhetoric, and he is too respectful of the men and women serving under his command to use them as propaganda fodder.

Referendum Results

BEIRELN, 30 September 2007 — With 100% of Slobovs having voted, the final results of the referendum are in.

In the first round, Germanic (Barbarian) Monarchy took 33.3% and Kritarchial Monarchy, Meritocratic Monarchy, Meritocratic Republic and Semi-Presidential Republic each took 16.7%. His Majesty will present four plans (two republican, two monarchistic), which the People may discuss and amend, and from which they may choose, to the National Assembly.

This shall be the first opportunity the People have had to change the form of government since they chose to replace the Slobovian Democratic Republic with the Slobovian Republic in 2003. That change began the Great Awakening, which led Slobovish society from then to the entrance of Slobovia into the Arminian Community in 2004. The historical significance of this opportunity is known well to the King, who has stated that he wishes to begin a Second Awakening.

What form of government will the People choose? Will Slobovia have its Second Great Awakening? Time alone can tell the answers to these questions, but one can trust that, so long as someone is interested in Slobovia, the Phoenix will never die, only burn.
